CuCrZr Powder - Same Material, Two Qualities

The CuCr1Zr alloy is an alloy of copper with chromium and zirconium that achieves very high resistance with still very good electrical conductivity. It is characterized by stability even at elevated temperatures and during welding which makes it suitable for applications in aerospace and wherever components are subjected to cyclical thermal stress.

SAFIAN has included two classes or qualities of this product for additive manufacturing in its portfolio. OBoth new products fully meet the standards for this material (C18500, CW106C). Both products have excellent particle sphericity, particle size distribution (PSD), but they differ partly in chemical composition.

The standard grade powder (marked Standard Grade) is produced from the supplier’s master alloy, which undergoes a several-step input inspection to guarantee its quality for the above-mentioned standards and trouble-free use in additive manufacturing. The content of impurities (oxygen content not included) ranges up to a maximum level of 480 ppm.
